An open letter to ALL Men!

… Especially the #NotAllMen brigade!

I’ll have you know that this is my 3^rd attempt at writing this letter civilly because in all honesty there’s nothing that I’d like to say more than FUCK EVERY ONE OF YOU! Buuuut you know what, two wrongs don’t make a right, although it sure as hell would feel nice to say it.

Let me start of by congratulating you boys on always successfully & single-handedly being an absolute, constant & unwavering bunch of disappointments. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, well done guys *slow clap*.

Thank you for successfully making Women dread existence itself. We cannot do ANYTHING or go anywhere without fear gripping us. Death at the hands of your fellow Men finds us everywhere. Hell! Even being at home is a hazard because even there, the Men who’re responsible for our lives and the Men we love rape and kill us. So really who are we to trust? What are we to do? Who are we to call on to?

How many more Women is it going to take for you guys to see that YOU are what is wrong with the World ? Oops! Fuck! My bad sorry! I forgot that the prerequisite for Men to give a dam is that the Woman needs to be related to them first. It’s only when it’s your Sister(s), close Female relatives or Daughters that’s been raped or killed that will trigger you all to want to do something. How silly of me to ask such… askies.

You all claim to be disappointed in what other Men are doing to us, yet be are the first ones to deflect the situation when Women speak  up. Most of you run to be the first ones to comment “Not all Men” on posts that are aimed at raising awareness on how we’re being killed like flies at the hands of your “brothers”.  You are more concerned about loyalty to your friends than about doing the right thing.

You response or lack thereof, to Women Violence indicates that you only want to see something done only when tragedy has entered your home. Till then you “Not all Men” us to death as you continue comfortably living your lives the way you all want while we suffocate under precautionary measures, safety apps, having to remember to share our live locations with our friends & family members and and and… yet even in all this, you still find ways to rape and kill us in public spaces where we think we’re somewhat safe. We are being targeted whilst running fucking errands! Are you fucking serious!? Are you not all ashamed???? Are you not shamed of how this makes you all look??? Ashamed enough to want to do something!?

Women have been suffering for CENTURIES under heavily saturated patriarchal societal beliefs and attitudes that have devalued our worth as Women to nothing but sexual objects. You claim to be just as mad when close family members express their frustrations about the fatalities Women face every day at the hands of your gender yet the attitudes you carry with you outside and how you respond to these frustrations from Women who aren’t affiliated with you, say otherwise. You may not be a rapist or murderer but you’re very much are one when you choose to turn fold your arms and turn a blind eye.

How do you all not see how sickening the idea of how most of you feel entitled to Women is!?

Majority of you shame Women for speaking up and taking action towards Men that assault them. You worry more about that Man having a criminal record than about the actual transgression that was committed, or that the culprit has never been in trouble before and therefore does not deserve to be held accountable for what they have done! How are you so comfortable with not taking responsibility or accountability? Is this what being a Man means to you all!?

I’m left to believe that you guys hurt us out of enjoyment. You enjoy seeing Women struggle; this is about Power isn’t it? Is it because Women have become so much more liberated? Is it because we’re no longer as submissive? It infuriates you all that Women can also play mind games like you, have sex without any feelings attached like you’d been, cheat like you do, get jobs and be more successful than you, like you’d been. All of these infuriate you isn’t it? Its power that you all want isn’t it!?

Because if not, then how do you explain all of this madness. There are Women who sell sex, yet you run away from them and what’s worse is that you SHAME them and instead force yourselves onto innocent Women that don’t want you! This is NOT about sex, this is about control…. Power! You are hunting us, we are Prey to you!

You are all socialised to uphold patriarchal, misogynistic beliefs and standards that perpetuate this violence towards Women and little girls. You really believe that Women are here for your satisfaction and should always be submissive to you. Because if you don’t then why are you not doing anything about the number of Women that are dying at the hands of Men!?

To all Men and Boys; WE ARE TIRED, SCARED & DYING! Don’t just step in ONLY when a Woman that’s close to you is in trouble. Help Women eradicate this behaviour. You need to help find ways of shedding the toxic masculinity that’s deeply embedded in who your predecessors have TAUGHT you to become. You all have potential to help us fight this violence towards Women which has reached epidemic levels. So many lives are depending on your next move because for every time you say “Not all Men” and continue to fold your arms and spectate, you are complicit in the violence perpetrated against us. HELP US!
