DISCLAIMER:
The term “Demons” in this case is figurative & means the things that used to haunt me….my fears.
We often say, “you need to face your Demons or they will haunt you forever” & although this is figurative some people’s demons are walking beings that prey on their fear & never give them rest. If that’s you, I am sorry. I can only imagine how exhausting trying to run from such is.
I was reflecting on how far I’ve come with the work I’ve done internally & I was taken aback at how much I’ve slayed the Demons that used to haunt me & something profound popped into my mind; that not only did I slay them but I dissected them & found out what they had been feeding on. And it freaking dawned on me that sometimes we never really move or see much progress when working on ourselves because we don’t take the time to find out WHAT is it that these (or this) Demon has been feeding on, what kept it coming back ? Was I inadvertently feeding it ? What is it about me that they held on to & kept reaching back for ?
“Are you really healing or are you coping ?”
Take the time to find where & how you give your problems power over you. Because as the saying goes, we are what we think. Wanting to be unproblematic but continuously engaging in problematic thinking is what will not lead you to your pot of gold. You need to figure out what’s fueling your fears & work from the bottom up instead of top down. It is best to eliminate a problem from its roots so that you can remove any & all traces of it. Which will also help you identify it should it perhaps try to make a return in your life.
This is the work you need to do mentally. So you see the “You are what you think” saying is extremely correct & you should never underestimate the power that is your thoughts. Your thoughts are products of your Brain & a healthy brain will obviously yield healthy thoughts & an unhealthy one will yield unhealthy thoughts.
For example; you’re more inclined to believe what you THINK than to believe what another person tells you, even then…. if you THINK what they’re saying is correct you’ll believe them which then proved the point that I’m trying to make. So then, Often times we feed our Demons through the things we THINK & thus end up BELIEVING about ourselves & when we say we’re slaying our Demons we only get rid of what was the bi product but don’t pay attention to its roots…the “WHY” it was there & lasted so long to begin with.
” Wanting to be unproblematic but continuously engaging in problematic thinking is what will not lead you to your pot of gold.”
Make it a habit to look at problems on a deeper level. Some will say “it’s not that deep” well boo-boo kitty if it has the potential of keepin you up at night, I’m afraid it is THAAAT deep.
Anyways, what I’m trying to say here is:
Don’t just get rid or slay your Demons, dissect them & find out what kept them alive….what were they feeding on ? To help get yourself to a better place.
You’re worthy & you matter, always.
